Start with the property.
Test the assessment.
A structured initial review of the property, current rateable value, list entry and billing position before deciding whether further action is appropriate.
CCA’s assessment service is designed to identify what deserves investigation — and just as importantly, what does not.
Property information
Review the address, occupation, use, floor areas and other physical facts relevant to the rating assessment.
Current list entry
Review the 2026 list entry, rateable value and any relevant history.
Evidence indicators
Identify comparable properties, valuation patterns or circumstances that may justify closer analysis.
Billing position
Consider the rateable value alongside multipliers, reliefs and transitional arrangements where relevant.
What we need to begin
- Property address and postcode
- Business name and occupation details
- Current business rates bill if available
- Rateable value if known
- Any known changes to the property or surrounding area
What happens after the review
Where the initial evidence indicates that the assessment or property details deserve further attention, we can explain the appropriate next route. That may involve a property information check, a challenge to the valuation, a relief review, or simply clarification of the billing position.
No automatic challenge: a higher rateable value is not, by itself, evidence that the valuation is wrong.
